ELGÉ : A HERITAGE OF FRENCH WATCHMAKING
BETWEEN SAVOIE & FRANCHE-COMTÉ
Born in the mountains of Savoie in the 1950s, Elgé watches are making their return with the same passion for watchmaking and thirst for adventure. The Chamonix marks the first chapter of this new era.
A HERITAGE ROOTED IN SAVOYARD WATCHMAKING CRAFTSMANSHIP
Founded in Annecy in the late 1940s, Elgé established itself as a key player in Savoyard watchmaking, forging strong ties with the prestigious watchmaking school of Cluses.
At its peak, the Elgé manufacture employed 120 skilled watchmakers and artisans, producing watches that reflected the ingenuity and artistry of post-war French watchmaking.
Powered by French and Swiss mechanical movements, Elgé watches were a testament to the horological and artisanal excellence of the region. However, like many of its contemporaries, the brand succumbed to the quartz crisis and disappeared in 1973.
