THE CHAMONIX: A HUMBLE LEGACY OF HOROLOGY & ADVENTURE

The Chamonix from 1950 stood out not only for its bold design, featuring magnum hands and numerals as distinctive as they were striking, but also for its Savoyard roots. Named after the iconic town of Chamonix Mont-Blanc, the Chamonix was a symbol of adventure and the spirit of exploration, at a time when many peaks remained uncharted, and the world felt boundless.

This versatile tool watch met the demands of high-altitude challenges as well as the small adventures of everyday life. Its classic design elements, combined with French watchmaking craftsmanship tested by the quartz crisis, grant it a unique place in the world of vintage watches.

DESIGN & ENGINEERING:

The Chamonix combines robust engineering with refined design. Its 38 mm 316L stainless steel case, built to withstand the test of time, offers a reassuring water resistance of 150 m / 15 ATM.

Despite its durability, the Chamonix maintains an elegant profile of just 11.6 mm thickness. The oversized screw-down crown, decagonal case back, and brushed interior reflect influences from past eras while remaining timeless.

MASTERING CONTRASTS &
THE ART OF TYPOGRAPHY

The dial, lacquered in a deep black, features custom typography and Super-LumiNova® "Old Radium" treatment, ensuring optimal contrast and readability while preserving the charm of the original Chamonix.

The generously proportioned "Magnum" hands, a signature of the Chamonix, pay tribute to Elgé’s heritage and enhance legibility.

The Chamonix is powered by the France Ébauche FE Auto – No Date caliber, a movement that blends heritage with modern engineering. Renowned for its robustness, it offers a 44-hour power reserve, a high frequency of 28,800 bph for enhanced accuracy, and Incabloc® shock protection.

Manufactured and designed in France by the France Ébauche Manufacture, based in Maîche, in the heart of the Doubs region, this movement rivals Swiss calibers in quality, embodying French innovation and craftsmanship.
